Closed after the 2016 fire, the landmark Galeries Lafayette building on Place Clemenceau in Pau stood empty for several years in the heart of the city. Its renovation was to restore its role as a retail anchor, while respecting a heritage building dating from 1907. That left the question of energy: it had to be local, low-carbon, and discreet enough to let the building take centre stage. sans trahir un patrimoine bâti en 1907. Restait à trouver l’énergie : locale, bas carbone, et assez discrète pour s’effacer derrière le bâtiment.

  • Integrating a low-carbon energy solution into a protected heritage building.
  • Providing heating, cooling and domestic hot water for the future store.
  • Drilling in the city centre, on a dense and constrained urban worksite.

Arverne drilled the borehole field in the city centre; a thermal response test confirmed the site’s geothermal potential. l’été.

  • 17 vertical geothermal boreholes drilled to 200 m.
  • Works carried out in a constrained urban environment, at the rear of the building.
  • A single installation planned for heating, cooling and domestic hot water.

When the store reopens, scheduled for the end of 2027, a single installation will cover most of its thermal needs, summer and winter:

  • 90% of heating needs met by local energy.
  • 75% of cooling needs covered, including domestic hot water.
  • Energy performance supporting the revival of the city centre.
CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

“We chose a local energy source that doesn’t need to be stored or transported. We are energy independent.

It is the best low-carbon energy solution we have found.”
